I’m a graffiti fan. I grew up in Boulder Colorado, where commissioned graffiti art is commonplace. When a train goes by covered in spraypaint, I don’t see the defaced property, I see an unusually vibrant form of art and identification.

Also, trains are wide. And panos are [usually] wide too.

bingo!

I love the ability of a panorama to show the relative scale of an object and its environment. It’s one step closer to being there. This house seemed so lonely in the middle of a field, against a bright sky. A little exposure comp made the sky seem slightly stormy.

  1. I lived near the Bronx where there’s graffiti everywhere. Some where just pure vandalism, but some where really cool. These are definitely cool. I’ve seen those trains before and I actually thought of photographing them for this assignment. You did a great job, although I kind of wish I could see more of the sky.
I love the second picture too. The clouds look great and I like how there’s nothing around in the background. Great pics!

  2. dude! i work in IF 1-2 times a week and ever time i drive back i think to myself ” i need to go do a shoot with the graffiti train cars!”. I love the house pano, reallyl adds to the sense that the house must me in the middle of nowhere.

  3. I love the graffiti train pano. It turned out great! The colors really popped and the bend of the tracks creates a cool flow for the eyes. Also, the abandoned house looks really awesome.

  4. I love the panoramic shot with the train cars. I like graffiti too. It makes your shot a lot more colorful and vibrant. Also, it’s a cool angle with the cars bending away like that.
